The US Navy

US Navy is just one of the many sites I have to design. In fact it needed to be started yesterday. I'm a little behind, but I ain't uh feared. Polo Jeans is in the works and I gotta redo the flash for that lodging co. The redo for them kinda p-o's me off. I spent a good while working on that project, making it as cool as I could for their demands. Then after it is done, it never fails, they want to go and screw it up. What kind of world do we live in? I'm in constant awe of just how amazing people really are. I had no idea they were graphic designers. You learn something new every day.

Netflix: Welcome To Netflix - Rent DVDs Online

I had to cancel my subscription to Netflix the other day. I just couldn't justify the service. Here was my main problem: time. Lemme explain.

I got my first ordered movies in 1 day. So I had to watch 3 movies immediately. Who has time to watch 3 movies in one day? No one. So I staggered it. I watched one movie a day and sent them back the same way - finished it sent it back. Well the weekend screws up the flow of movies Pretty much after the initial 3 movies- you were lucky to get 3 movies in a week. Now that isn't bad- that works out to about 12 movies a month, which figures to around 2 bux a movie. By most standards that is a great rental price, and to be honest, the selection of movies was immaculate. Unfortunately having to pay $20 a month for 3 movies at a time was like having a job. Maybe I'm weird, but receiving movies in the mail, was like getting a bill that you have to pay and send out as soon as possible (as not to forget about paying it). This is a horrible way to view the process, but $20 bux for less than 10 movies is pathetic. It wasn't like I was ordering up all new releases- in fact I think I only got 1 new release movie. Most of the things I rented were tv series.

Time was the biggest Issue I had with my subscription. You sign up for the subscription size based on the amount of movies you want to see at a time. 3 at a time is the subscription I joined. The average turn around rate for a movie was about 3 days. 1 day to receive it, 1 day to watch it and 1 day to send it back, then 1 day to send the next, 1 day to watch it, and 1 day to send it back. Then the week-end comes up and messes the whole process up. I feel that this process would have been sped up if there was a shipping center in my town- but the closest one is 1 hour away, which delayed the shipping by a day- that slowed the process down, and I can't imagine what it does to rural areas.

I have to say that I was down right startled at how easy it was to quit. That will make a huge difference in whether or not I ever rejoin. I didn't get hassled and it was so easy to find the cancel button. I clicked the button, confirmed my cancellation and I was done. Fantastic.

I would recommend Netflix to anyone who has a bad habit of late fees, someone who thinks that $20 bux for 10 movies is a good deal, someone who likes a large catalogue of movies, and someone who doesn't care about what movie they are watching tonight-(cuz your stuck with what you ordered). If you can't deal with one of those reasons, then netflix is not for you my friend.

Netflix- You're good, but not good enough for me Right now. I will probably rejoin when $20 bux doesn't matter that much to me... but unfortunately it does.

Solidox's Jolly Sack of Shiznizzle

SO.. I've been soo busy.. I've got so much stuff to do.. so much .. I have 2 sites I've got to design immediately. I have the Navy Seals Challenge site to design for uhh the Navy Seals, then I have to do a redesign for a site called www.savagegarnish.com WHoot WHoot. So while I'm designing them I have to do a complete ad campaign mock up for Ralph Lauren Polo Jeans. THis is supposed to correspond to their G.I.V.E Campaign which looks like it does a lot of good for the community. I hope I can make something that speaks to their needs and compliments their efforts well.

I had a great Christmas. Had lots of fun with the family and thought everything was excellent. Got to see some old friends, and had a very good time. I'll have some pics up soon

keira Knightley's musical choices

Just looking on Rhapsody for some new music... checked for the newest strokes record and, well, It isn't out yet.. but I found a band called Elefant-- which I'm diggin very much thank you very much. So anyways.. while I was checking it out I noticed the celebrity playlist of Keira Knightley included some ELefant... so I thought I would take a gander at her musical choices. wow... I think she stole my choices.. I was very surprised to see some of her choices... but after looking at it, I think she must be the coolest actress ever.... Speaking of cool... I wish I was cooler.

If I had a band these days that would be the name of it. " I wish I was cooler" You know... I bet everyone feels that way. Word for the day is Gona-syphl-herpe-aids :::: fun bun

Netfilx- I'm slightly disappointed

So I tried out netflix- still trying out netflix - I have to say I'm a little let down. I love their catalogue but Having to wait for my movies sucks. I've been renting the 1st season of Lost and I have to say that Netflix is just not fast enough for me. I pretty much watch the movies as soon as I get them and I send them out as soon as I've watched them. In a word, it just takes too long to continue on. This is a pain since I like watching series dvds. I effectively have to wait 3 days to receive them- watch them that night - send it out and wait for them to receive the disc which takes about 2 days- then wait another 3 days for my next disc. So that means I get through the cycle about once a week. THAT IS CRAP!. It might be faster if we had a netflix location in my city, but I dont' so I have to send my discs to the closest location which is an hour away - which is why there is such a delay I'm sure. Oh well. I'm gonna try it for a little while longer. Stay tuned

Mission Ukraine - Helping Orphanages and the Needy through Christ

man o man... I know that things take time and patience, but I'm a little upset that this site isn't up and functioning. It seems that we just can't get anything finished- or even up to a functioning level. Mission-Ukraine was a website that was supposed to be up and running 2 weeks ago. However, comma, it isn't up and working yet- and truthfully, I don't know when it will be up and working. SOOOO. I wish I was more optimistic.. but I'm not. It has almost been an entire month, and there is no end in site. YUCK YUCK YUCK>

Netflix: Welcome To Netflix

I just signed up for Netflix the other day. My first 3 dvds should arrive today. That will make it a 3 day delivery. and probably 3 days to send them back. 18 bux a month for about 3 movies a week for a month. SO 12 movies for 18 bux isn't too bad. THe main reason I'm trying it out is becuz they have so many more movies to pick from. I have a much better selection of tv series dvds, which is great. I wanted to rent "LOST" so that I could find out what everyone is talking about. I also wanted to rent "mystery Science theatre 3000" cuz I haven't seen it since I was a kid and watched it on Comedy Central. Sooo I should be receiving my first movies today.. and we'll find out if Netflix is worth it.

Things that I need to finish

It's already november, and I still have so many things to finish. Don't get me wrong, I've gotten lots of things completed and alot of things started, but I also have a very very long list of things that are just sitting there waiting to be finished.
The first thing that I need to finish is the new tutorial section for Solidoxygen.com. This will be a great addition for the site because it will allow for more tutorials and more diverse tutorials at that. I want to be able to include tuts for flash, css, photography, music . . . all sorts of things. I really want solidoxygen.com to become a great resource for everyone.
Second, I want to finish Discount Duplications.com. This site was a suprise for my uncle. I wanted to give his old site something new. Make it stand out, and bring new business. His older site was definitely not very pretty and I think that probably hurt his business. The site was good in the 90's. not so much these days.
Third, I want to finish Official Collectibles.com, and Artifactzone.com. Both of these sites have potential, but I just don't have the expertise to finish these sites alone. They need alot of help, but I don't have the resources or time for either venture.
Fourth, I want to finish Drink Prices.com. This one has potential, as well as interest. This website would benefit every college student in the world. It has a lot of possibility to just take off, but unfortunately it would need expertise that I don't have.

Sooo.. looks like I need to get busy doesn't it.

Peace

The World of Nicholas E. Solon, Esq.

The World of Nicholas E. Solon, Esq... The above link goes to Nick's Website. Nick is the grotesque living dead person below this post. You'd never guess this is his website, but oh well. The world if full of conflicts and contradictions. My biggest question is the the "World of Nicholas E. Solon, ESQ? He isn't a lawyer. So why the Esquire?.. Is he a swiss Watch? hmmmm.. oh.. I've got it.. just did a search on "esquire" from dictionary.com .. to save you the click here is the def:

es·quire (skwr, -skwr)
n.

1. A man or boy who is a member of the gentry in England ranking directly below a knight.
2. Abbr. Esq. Used as an honorific usually in its abbreviated form, especially after the name of an attorney or a consular officer: Jane Doe, Esq.; John Doe, Esq.
3. In medieval times, a candidate for knighthood who served a knight as an attendant and a shield bearer.
4. Archaic. An English country gentleman; a squire.

I'm guessing he is going for def. #4 - but wouldn't that mean the abbreviation would be .ASQ - yet again . I just don't know.. Wouldn't you need to be from England to be an English Gentleman? I thought Nick was from Michigan. Maybe that explains it. Just a thought.

Nick Solon won 1st prize in the -"Make People Puke w/ Your Costume" Contest. It wouldn't have been so bad had he not also developed a rotting flesh smell to accompany the outfit. Way to go Nick! Posted by Picasa

3rd Dimension Design News

We moved into our new office on Tues. It is a little crazy having to go downtown to work. The office is really nice and I hope it gives 3DD a sense of professionality. I'm also happy to see that Solidoxygen.com has finally acheived a page rank above 1. The page rank is only 3 but that is still better than 1. Visionportfolio has also increased it page rank from 1 to 4 which is a very large change.

Aside from being a little anxious about all the changes, we seem to be going in the right direction. I hope we don't get mislead by our choices. I need to stay grounded.

ANDRE L. and his unfortunate last name

Don't ask me how I got here, but It really is a shame that his last name is what it is. I'm sure everybody has thought about people that had unfortunate last names. You know. Harry Ball who lived down the road from me. Harry Bush - I'm sure someone is named that. As well as all the Asians out there, Laung Dong, Smah Wahng etc. etc. Well Andre here has a very unfortunate last name. It isn't Balls or Bush or Wahg, or any other Penis/ Male anatomy This one is truly different. It isn't even slightly subtle. Andre and his unfortunate last name. Sorry Andre, but I had to blog.. it was just too funny.

PS. Did I even mention he was a Professor? Yeah He's a Doctor.

Check it out. Dr. Andre ____

KY Renfaire Event Info - Kentucky Renfaire information

KY Renfaire Event Info - Kentucky Renfaire information
I think that a renaissance faire in KY is great. Eminence is a really nice town.. Small and quaint. I really am happy with the location. I also heard that Eminence has allowed the KY Renfaire to have alcohol sales on Sunday.. So that is a very good thing, especially for Renaissance Patrons who are thirsty for an ale while the Jousting takes place.

Whatever the case, I'm happy, and I'm sure that the town of Eminence will be pleased next year when the faire is taking place, and the little town's businesses flourish from the over flow.

I just put up a tutorial for Stealing website backgrounds for Adobe Photoshop. I have been working hard on The 3rd Dimension CMS (Content Management System), and some sweet day it should be finished and up for the world to use. SOOO check out my site. Resume help is here at last

I've been looking for a job recently and I had to knock the dust off the ole' resume. I didn't really know where to begin when looking for good sources for resume help until I found Vision-Resume.com. There Career Center articles and information on resume writing techniques helped me very much. I really loved the article on Resume Do's and Don't. I figued since Vision-Resume was such a good help for me that they could help the blogger.com world out too.

VisionPortfolio Vs. Modeling Agencies

Vision-Resume is now looking to the model agencies for support. After looking at competing products we have come to the conclusion that Vision-Resume is a superior format for viewing/browsing/finding models, actors and just about anyone interested in the talent industry. It seems that if a person is actually interested in becoming a model, they have to submit pictures and pending approval, may or may not become affiliated with an agency or even considered for jobs. One such site that does this is Model Scouts. We at Vision-Resume found this to be awful and rather biased. We thought that the client should have the final vote on who to be their model/spokesperson/actor etc. SO our answer is VisionPortfolio. VisionPortfolio creates a portfolio website for the model. The site will have their measurements, information, schedules, pictures and whatever else the model might like to include. The great part is that it is fully editable all of the time. Our product also gives the model the edge when they want to self promote. Since it is a website, they can send the link to anyone. There isn't any hard addresses to remember or logins that need to be provided. Just one easy address to send out! Another great feature to VisionPortfolio is that we are building a community. When a model starts a portfolio she is entering a database of talent. This database will be searchable by top modeling agencies or even clients. This truly gives the model the upperhand, and gives them more work to choose from.

If i didn't have any teeth, and I wanted a fruity treat, then i'd eat some apple sauce; especially if i was really old. i really don't even care if it looks like snot, it would be a good source of vitamin C and it would slide down my throat really easy. i wouldn't eat any jello... which brings me to a 2nd point. what the hell is up with jello.. it looks all light and bouncy and fun, and it comes in fruit flavors that are cool and wonderfully appealing. but the sad sick thing is that nobody realizes that gelatin comes from animal skin and cartilage being boiled down to a gel, then being dehydrated into powder form. Sooooo what I'm saying is that the next time you see a commercial for smooth cool, and bouncy jello... think of a big cow hide being boiled... it makes that big luscious cube of strawberry jello that much better... I GUARANTEE!! Posted by Hello

ZERO 7

"In the Waiting Line"
"In the Waiting Line" is a great song.. perfect for Garden State which it was in and just an amazing song. If you like the song, you can't help but love the CD. Zero 7 is just about a smooth as you can get. Downtempo is just too good of a genre for this type of music.

RHAPSODY Link
Right on! It really is hard to imagine a world without the smooth contours of Lemon Jelly. THe band, based out of London sculpts their Down Tempo grooves with a mixture of sample based talk intertwined with acid jazz drums, synths and and crazy sounding instrument they can find to add to the musical palate. Ya gotta love it.
